I added a couple new things to Sofia’s room and I’m almost done… whew! I just had to bribe Sofia to clean her room so that I could photograph it and even with her “cleaning,” I still crammed a laundry basket full of Sofia stuff into the closet and shut the doors… Ah, staging a 12 year old girl’s room. FUN!
I added the pink chandelier from Joss and Main that I think pulled the whole room together. Although, I suppose tastes differ because when my husband saw the chandelier, he said, “What the heck is THAT?!” I told him that it’s a chandelier that’s perfectly appropriate in a 12 year old girl’s room and no need to worry that it wasn’t going anywhere he’d have to stare at it for too long! I didn’t put lightbulbs in the chandelier or even wire it since it truly is just a decorative piece. Sofia’s got tons of light in her room so I didn’t see the sense hiring an electrician to hardwire it.

I also added the prints above the bed. Sofia loves Abe Lincoln. I know, weird, but I don’t know if I could ask for a better person for her to admire. She was Dorothy in her middle school production of “Wizard of Oz” hence the crazy Dorothy print. BTW, I love the name of the print (which shows up NOWHERE on the print), “Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh F%&!” Too funny, since Dorothy is clearly a bad a$$ in this print! The other print is from a book that I used to read to Sofia when she was little. You can’t tell but it says, “Love You to the Moon and Back” in that chalkboard writing that’s so popular now.
I also hung a mirror above her dresser that I got from Home Goods and painted the same purple color as the bookcase on the other side of the room. I tried to find an inexpensive mirror on Craigslist to rehab but no luck. This mirror is one of those floor length mirrors that I hung horizontally and was only about $70. With a quick spray , it was exactly what I needed.
The only thing that I still need to do is find a lampshade for the owl lamp on her nightstand and also find a smallish memo board to post next to her mirror and then I’m done!
