Kitchen
When we moved into the house and decided to tackle the Phase 1 renovations, I knew that the kitchen had to be included on that list. The cabinets are in excellent condition, but they were dated and orange hued.
So, a few months ago, we knocked down some walls to open up the space and we replaced the flooring.
I initially thought that this was the end of Phase 1 and that I could live with the dated kitchen until the big renovation, but the new flooring clashed with the cabinets. I just couldn’t look at the kitchen without cringing. And because this truly is the heart of our house where everyone hangs out, I needed to fix the cringe!
So last week, I painted the cabinets Stonecutter by BM and it made a world of difference in the the style and mood of the kitchen.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve already seen the whole shebang. But if you don’t, here’s a teaser photo that will have to tide you over until I write a larger post next week. (Trust me though, it looks night and day different!)
Music Room
I’ve finally decided on a fluted treatment for the bottom portion (under the crown molding) of the walls in the music room and took my inspiration from the incomparable Mandi Gubler of Vintage Revivals.
Beautiful, right!
I’ve gotten all the necessary supplies and plan on installing the fluting and painting the walls next week.
Stuff I Love!
Here are a few things I’m loving (and buying or bought):
These logs are going to be perfect for both the outdoor fireplace and the fire pit in our backyard. I’m not going to tell the kids that I bought them and see if they notice. And before I get any tut tuts about scaring the bejesus out of my kids… they’re all teenagers or in their 20s and can handle it, thankyouverymuch!
I plan on using these on the buffet in the dining room or maybe even on the dining room table. I still haven’t decided… but in either space, they’ll be beautiful!
Apparently, I’m on a candle kick because I ordered these for our future coffee table that I still haven’t found. They are “everlasting” candles because the candles are fed by the oil in the vase so you can reuse them thousands of times. It’s a very cool concept so I’m excited to get them!
Okay, so that’s the roundup of last week. The kitchen cabinet painting took up most of my week and now that it’s done, I plan on focusing on the music room. Have a great weekend!
